Please review my VIOLIN LESSON policy
Dear Parents/Guardians/Students:
Please take a moment to read the following policy.
SCHEDULE/CANCELATIONS: I am offering weekly violin lessons from after Labor Day in September through the end of May.
· If you need to cancel, for any reason, you MUST give me a minimum of 24-hour notice. Cancelled or missed lessons CANNOT be made up or refunded.
FEE: ½ HOUR TUITION = $30. Monthly tuition is DUE at the first lesson of the month. *Failure to adhere to the first lesson of the month payment plan will result in NO LESSONS until that month’s lessons have been paid in full.
· 45 minute and 1 hour lessons are available upon request depending on availability. An additional $1/minute after 30 minutes will apply.
REFERRAL CREDIT: If you refer a student who signs up for lessons with the studio, the referring student/parent will be awarded a $30 credit per student sign up. Referral credits will be applied to monthly tuition as a discount.
SEMESTER AGREEMENT: Just like a college course, in joining my studio, a semester commitment is required. Should you have to terminate for any reason, you must insure your child’s balance for lessons is PAID in FULL. If your child is leaving the studio, parents are required to give 2 weeks prior notice in writing or verbal communication before the student’s last lesson to compensate for the difficulty of filling an open time slot in a partial year. Parents are still financially responsible for their child’s last 2 week’s tuition.
LESSONS: It is VERY important for the parent(s) to attend the 30-minute lesson with their child in order to help the child remember what to practice during the next week. Parents are expected to sit through lessons & take notes. I am in essence teaching you how to teach & guide your child for daily home practice. We are a team working together to ensure the success & progress of your child.
PRACTICE: I expect all students to be prepared & to set aside daily time for their music studies. The amount of daily practice time depends on the age of each student. *Refer to the new student guideline & information packet that was given to you. Please listen to the instructor about the amount of practice time your child will need. It is important to establish a daily practice routine. This builds strong habits & helps reinforce what we address during lessons. The more consistent the practice routine, the more improvement your child will make. Lesson assignments will be recorded and submitted via the PRACTICE SPACE practicing app. This app is FREE for students.
BEING ON TIME FOR LESSONS: Being on time for lessons is very important as there are other lessons scheduled before & after yours. If you are late for a lesson, I will not go beyond the scheduled lesson time because of tardiness, however, you will be required to pay for your entire 30-minute scheduled lesson.
RECITAL: There will be one Spring Recital in May. Your student will be performing two individual pieces & one piece with the group of students from the studio. Students will choose their recital piece in March in order to give them ample practice time. Location & time of the recital TBA.
WAYS TO GET INFORMATION: Students may get their lesson assignments through PRACTICE SPACE. I will text &/or email parents with information.
VIDEO LESSONS: If you are sick & don’t want to spread your germs, I can schedule a Zoom lesson, please let me know ASAP. *If your schedule only allows for Zoom lessons, please let me know & we can work out a hybrid plan. Half the lessons will be in-person & the other half on Zoom. In-person lessons will be vital in order for me to see what needs to be corrected in hand, finger or body positional issues.
LACK OF PROGRESS: If a violin student does not show progress, I will let the parents know immediately, so we can reassess & come up with an improvement plan. I am willing to give students a chance to redeem themselves, but ultimately without daily violin practice, progress will not be made. It is at that point, that I will recommend the student discontinue with violin lessons. Unfortunately, it is a waste of the parent’s time & money, along with my time.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read through my studio policy.
Please sign & date this policy, & return it to me at your next lesson. *If you would like a copy of your signed policy, please do so before submitting this document. Thank you! I have read & understand this policy, & agree to adhere to its terms.
