MY VIOLIN BACKGROUND
Linda Z Studio opened its doors in 2021. I am a retired teacher of 31 years. I have been playing the violin for 49 years & teaching violin lessons for 33 years in the KPBSD. I have a Bachelors of Arts degree in Education from the College of St. Benedict, a Masters of Education from Grand Canyon University & a Lifetime Teaching Certificate from the state of Alaska.
I started playing the violin at age 7 in Marquette, Michigan. Under the tutelage of Jolynn Keranen I began my Suzuki violin journey. Later, I switched violin instructors, & worked with Marilyn Savolinen. I have been a member of the Negaunee High School Orchestra, & Northern Michigan Youth Orchestra.
In 1984, my family moved from Michigan to Alaska. I was fortunate enough to take lessons from Maria Allison. I have played with the Kenai Peninsula Orchestra. I also played in the orchestra pit for a couple of Soldotna High School musicals: South Pacific & Fiddler on the Roof.
The summer of 2024, my husband & I moved to Chino Valley, Arizona. We really love it!
I offer in-person & virtual/hybrid lessons to students ages 4 on up. I conduct interviews with children & parents to insure my style of teaching matches with your child’s style of learning.
MY PHOTOGRAPHY BACKGROUND
In addition to being a violin teacher, I am a photographer.
As a child, I remember my mother taking a lot of pictures of everything my siblings & I did. When I became a mother, I found myself documenting my own children’s milestones & everyday activities through photos. I currently live in Chino Valley, AZ. I have two spunky dogs, a doting husband & we raised three beautiful children.
In 2002, I bought my first digital camera. I had taken SO many precious pictures of our family. Little would I know just how invaluable these pictures would become eight years later as I lost my second son to Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD). I understand the significance of documenting your family’s milestones & journey through life.
I am a graduate of the New York Institute of Photography. I specialize in portraiture photography because I love interacting with people. I enjoy capturing special memories for people. It would be my privilege to document your life story through pictures; let me help tell your family’s story.
